How to store your bike (& be insured)

An all-inclusive subscription to Wombi is the easiest way to get moving on a premium e-bike.

Along with service and 24/7 rider rescue, insurance is included in your subscription. So, in the unfortunate event that your e-bike is damaged or stolen, we’ll take care of everything and get you a replacement quickly.

When you sign up for a Wombi e-bike subscription, you sign our T&Cs which give some simple directions on how and where you should store your bike so that you’re covered by insurance if something should happen.

Your bike is way less likely to be damaged or stolen if you follow our 3-step locking process. And, if it is, you’ll only need to pay $500 towards the replacement cost.

If you don’t follow them, you’re up for the full replacement cost of the bike. We really don’t want that to happen, so here’s a little refresher and some great tips on how you can safely store your bike at home or when you’re out and about.

Store your bike at home

When you subscribe to Wombi, you nominate a primary storage location, usually this is at your home. When your bike is at that location, it needs to be:

  • Not visible from a public space; and
  • Under cover
  • Ideally your bike would be in a locked garage, shed, or inside your home.

So long as it’s not visible from a public space, it’s also fine to store the bike in an open air garage (like a carport). You can also store it in a communal bike area (like the parking area of an apartment building). If you store it in a shared or accessible space, follow our 3-step locking system: 1 - chain it to something solid and immovable; 2 - engage the wheel lock; and 3 - set the alarm. Done!

These areas are more secure than the bike being out in the open, but are still accessible to thieves.

Here’s a little video showing you how to lock your bike from our friends at our sister company, Lug + Carrie in Australia.
