How is an ExFleet Certified bike different from a "used" bike?

Buying a used electric bike from a private seller is a gamble. Wombi ExFleet takes the risk out of the equation. Every pre-owned e-bike we sell:

  • Includes a professional battery health report.
  • Has been deep-cleaned and safety-certified.
  • Comes with a limited warranty (unlike most private sales).
  • Was maintained by Wombi professionals throughout its entire life.

Do I have to charge the battery on the e-bike?

Yes, you have to charge the battery if you want to use the electric motor. The charging process is as simple as plugging it in, just as you would with your mobile phone. To fully charge the battery for either the Tern GSD or Quick Haul, it takes about 4 hours.

The battery can be removed from the bike for charging. This is super convenient if you want to take it up to your office with you to charge while you stare out the window and think about what you want to do next with your Tern.

Please only use the battery charger and cable that Wombi provides. Third party chargers and extension cables are not allowed.

So how long does a charge last? Using a single standard, fully charged battery, the Tern GSD will run between 32 and 65 miles with a single-battery configuration, depending on how heavily you rely on the pedal assist and how much load you carry. The Tern Quick Haul will run between 32 and 62 miles.

What is the cosmetic condition of Wombi's secondhand Tern bikes?

We categorize our bikes based on their visual inspection. While all bikes are mechanically 100% sound, some may have minor scratches or paint chips from their previous "subscription life". We provide clear, high-resolution photos of any specific cosmetic imperfections on each listing so there is no surprises.

How do I know the battery is still good on the Wombi ExFleet bikes?

The battery is the heart of any e-bike. We test every Bosch PowerPack using official diagnostic tools. We only list bikes that retain at least 80-90% of their original capacity. You will receive a diagnostic printout confirming the battery's health with your purchase.

Are the electrical systems safe?

Yes. Wombi exclusively uses Bosch e-bike systems, which are UL 2349 certified. This is the gold standard for electrical and fire safety in the US, providing peace of mind for you and your family.

Does my ExFleet used e-bike purchase come with a warranty?

Yes! Every Wombi ExFleet bike includes a 1-year limited warranty on the motor, battery and frame. We stand behind our refurbishment process and want you to ride with confidence.

Can I still get service from Wombi after I buy an Exfleet electric bike?

Absolutely. Even after you transition from a subscriber to an owner, you remain part of the Wombi family. You can book maintenance at our local hubs (Seattle, SoCal, or Bay Area) and access our "Rider Success" team for any questions.

Ownership & "Flex-to-Own"

Can I use my past subscription payments towards an Exfleet bike?

If you are a current Wombi subscriber, you may be eligible for Flex-to-Own credits. Check your lease agreement or contact our team to learn how your "subscription equity" can be applied toward the purchase of an ExFleet model.

Does Wombi offer support even after I complete my purchase?

Absolutely! We don't just handover the keys and vanish. If you ever had a "what does this button do?" moment or need technical we're always here.

Plus, we offer servicing on your terms. You can pay for maintenance as you go, ensuring your bike gets exactly what it needs, when it needs.

The Best Park: If you live within our service area, you don't even have to leave the house. We offer at-home service appointments and pickups, so you can keep working while we take care of the heavy lifting.

Are e-bikes street legal?

Absolutely! The Tern GSD and Tern HSD are classified as a Class 1 e-bike—meaning it’s pedal-assist only, with a max speed of 20 mph and no throttle. That keeps things simple, safe, and allowed on bike lanes, paths, and city streets. No special license or registration required—just hop on and ride. The Tern Quick Haul P9 Sport is a Class 3 e-bike, offering pedal-assist up to 28 mph. This means it's street legal in many areas, including California, where Class 3 e-bikes are permitted on roads and bike lanes adjacent to roadways. However, local regulations can vary, so it's always a good idea to check your city's specific rules regarding Class 3 e-bikes.

Are e-bikes waterproof?

Yes, Tern e-bikes are water-resistant and can be ridden in the rain. However, there are a few extra care tips to keep your bike running smoothly in rainy days.

  1. Wipe down your bike once you’re done riding it or the rain has stopped.
  2. Clean off your bike chain with a degreaser to remove extra grime
  3. Check your brake pads for wear and tear during the rainy season.
  4. Make sure to give us a call to schedule a tune up if you hear or feel anything that needs a mechanic’s eye. Safety first!
